The important information below offers you a guide before going to get a Quote.
What type of home do I have?
For battery unit only or battery storage + inverter installations, house construction details are important for quoting purposes. Installation methods may vary slightly for different types of homes.
For solar installations, roof construction material, roof height, and roof pitch (angle) also have an effect on the method of installation.
How much battery storage do I need?
The size of the battery storage required will depend on your home's total power usage and how you use your power. LG Chem Residential Energy Storage Unit (RESU) options of 3.3kWh, 6.5kWh, and 10kWh, and the flexibility to scale up to 20kWh combinations, means every household in Australia can install solar storage to meet their needs. The amount of solar you already have or are planning to install will influence your decision on battery capacity. A rule of thumb is that for every 1kWh of solar on your roof you will need 1kWh of battery storage. Use the following as a guide -
|Rooftop Solar Capacity||Required Lithium-ion Battery Storage Capacity||Recommended RESU model|
|15kW||15kWh||RESU 10 + RESU 6.5|
|20kW||20kWh||RESU 10 + RESU 10|
Consumers are already aware of the changing dynamic in power management. Homeowners will take charge of the power they produce. It is expected that excess electricity generated and stored will be sold back to the grid and your neighbours. If in doubt about how much battery storage you need, the simple answer is
'more is better'.
I don't have solar. How much solar do I need?
How much solar capacity you need will depend on your total power usage and how you use your power. To have enough solar to charge battery storage during the day before taking advantage of that battery power during peak power periods (evenings) will determine how much solar capacity a new installation needs.
Smaller homes with less power usage will opt for smaller capacity solar plus battery storage. Solar and battery installation experts suggest 5kW systems are a good starting point to release households from the stranglehold of the power companies. Larger homes with greater power use will choose larger solar arrays and more battery storage. No doubt, with RESU options of 3.3kWh, 6.5kWh, and 10kWh, and the capability to scale up to 20kWh combinations, every household in Australia can install solar storage to meet its needs.
I already have solar installed. Do I have enough or do I need more?
Recently, the trend has been for homes to install smaller solar systems. The reason behind this was that power generated and not used by the home at that time was exported onto the grid. That made sense - why make power that you are not going to benefit from?
The battery storage revolution changes everything.
Purchasing battery storage allows homeowners to take advantage of larger solar system installations. Larger solar system installations generate all the power your home needs and you take control of that power. The choice is now yours. Store and use during times of peak power when electricity is charged at the highest rate or have enough to cater for all your power needs. With the capability to scale up to 20kWh of battery storage, households have no limits on (are not restricted in) how much solar they install and will virtually eliminate power bills. With 'power banking' fast becoming a talking point and the ability to sell your excess power to your neighbour, homes will opt for larger solar and battery packages.
Should I buy a package?
So, you have done a few calculations and have a good idea of what your solar and battery storage requirements are. bvim are offering special packages for solar + battery + inverter combinations. Whatever system you may need and whatever the capacity you require, bvim will not be beaten on value for money.
